Gardening is more than just digging in the dirt; gardening gives children at the farm the opportunity to learn where their food comes from. This gives them the chance to learn the importance and the skills of growing food for them and their families. Our therapeutic gardening program also gives youth the chance to work side by side with a caring adult while taking care of something and watching it grow.
At Building Bridges Youth Farm we have incorporated a seed-to-table program, which includes composting, soil preparation, planting, cultivation, and harvesting. We teach nutritional education and each child is welcome to take their bounty home, wherever that may be.
